For the thousands of attendees here for the ASTD International Conference in Orlando, FL (#ASTD2011 for those following on twitter), you may be awe inspired by the beauty of Orlando, FL, or the comfort of checking in to your hotel. Others may think the convenience of the concierge and shuttle service is a great bonus. However, with all these great benefits the main reason you are attending is to gain insight from the over 235 conference speakers, sessions, and receive information from the hundreds of companies that are vendors at this event.

The question still remains, how do you keep track of all these sessions, vendors and interactions? Sure you could lug around the countless pieces of paper that hold speaker and conference session information. That is one option but there is an alternative is you are a super mobile user! The ASTD Mobile App.

This is my attempt at doing a short demo. While choppy and unclear it still gives you a small view of the options of the app.

I have to personally say that if my screen weren’t so small this would be the only thing I would use in the conference. In a partnership with ATIV Software, ASTD International launched the mobile app for the 2011 International Conference & Exposition. The mobile app is powered by EventPilot Plus, which gives conference participants the ability to communicate in many different ways.

With this app you can:

  • Search topics and sessions,
  • See current scheduled sessions happening in real-time,
  • Review the program by topic title (i.e. Organizational Effectiveness, General Sessions, etc.)
  • Mark your schedule of the must see session you would like to attend,
  • Share ideas and access important event information all from their mobile devices,
  • Follow the twitter stream around the conference on the #ASTD2011 hashtag,
  • See who will be attending the #ASTDtweetup,
  • Download and review session material and PowerPoint’s, and
  • You can even use share contact information with other mobile users with the BUMP tool.

There are a few small issues with the app, some rooms are not correct for the sessions, but overall it is a great tool!

You can download the app through Android and Apple now!

Don’t forget to join us for the #ASTDtweetup on Monday 23 at 7pm! RSVP here.
